I assumed it was something with the physical button, that was the issue, and sourced a replacement, opened it up, but the surface mount button on the right daughterboard had broken connections. I desoldered the button and have a replacement, but it looks like when it impacted, it lost the middle solder pad. looking online, it is possible to connect the nearby via from the other side of the board, but I don't have the skill to risk attempting it. I tried to link a guide shows the same situation for the left board with detailed examples, but your page won't accept the linkI've attached a photo of the replacement button next to the point on the board it needs to be attached to (board has flux residue from where the remains of the old one was desoldered.
