This is a 2-layer circuit board for a burglar alarm remote keypad. I removed the keypad (very carefully) from the wall to decorate and on re-installing the keypad most of the pixels in the 2 line display no longer work. I believe the issue is that the ribbon cable connecting the LCD display to the lower side of the upper circuit board has come slightly loose. If I run a plastic implement along the underside of the upper circuit board where the ribbon cable from the LCD dispay attaches to the circuit board I am able to get more pixels working – the extra pixels stop working when I remove pressure.The circuit board has not been roughly treated and there is no sign of damage. All functions of the keypad still work. It's just the display that doesn't function properly.
I installed this keypad above a heating vent 18 years ago and I'm wondering if the ribbon cable connection to the PCB has dried out. There is evidence of the glue holding the aeriel cable around the LCD display having dried out.
