This is a fully digital instrument cluster. The LCD works fine (I have tried replacing it with another and the fault persists). The fault is that the display fades to black after a certain period of time after being powered up. I suspect it is a time-constant kind of issue and down to faulty capacitors or other components. The car dealer has done a diagnostic on the unit and they found no functional faults so I suspect it is down to the display driver circuit or power circuit.

The requested repair was also carried out efficiently, and I am very pleased with the result. I have dropped one star in my review because the repair included replacing a red/green LED, and the red LED is so bright that the surrounding fabric is also illuminated, whereas the green LED is quite dim and can only be seen from certain angles. I guess that EP found it difficult to procure the original LED component which is undoubtedly a B&W special.
