Best TV shows coming to Disney Plus UK

Disney Plus is launching in the UK very soon – 24 March 2020 to be exact – meaning that British viewers can finally catch up with US subscribers by watching highly anticipated shows like The Mandalorian.

There’s still plenty to look forward to post-launch though, with shows coming in the Marvel and Star Wars universes, as well as a few other reality and animated programmes. We’ve rounded up our top picks of Disney+ shows to look forward to over the next year and beyond.

Looking for anything that’s available on launch? Take a look at our list of the best shows on Disney Plus, and the best movies on Disney Plus.

Be Our Chef

Season 1 – 27 March 2020

For some feel-good TV, Be Our Chef is the cooking show with a sprinkle of Disney magic on top. Two families will face off against one another to create a Disney inspired dish, and each episode will be judged by a famous face from the Mickey Mouse franchise. And of course, there will be appearances from lots of mascots.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier

Season 1 – August 2020

There’s a whole host of content slated for Phase Four of the MCU, and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is leading the way. Following Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes, this programme will deal heavily with the absence of Captain America, and show the return of former Civil War villain, Baron Zemo. Find out more about the show in our roundup of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

WandaVision

Season 1 – December 2020

Of all the upcoming MCU shows, WandaVision looks to be one of the most surreal, seemingly showing both Wanda Maxioff (aka Scarlett Witch) and Vision in a bizarre series of sitcom episodes – but what we can gather so far is that there’s something more sinister lying beneath the surface.

Muppets Now

Season 1 – 2020, date TBC

Though Variety reported that there’s been some drama surrounding scripted Muppets series on the streaming service, it looks like Disney+ is still plowing ahead with the unscripted short-from series, Muppets Now. The show will feature a whole host of celebrity guest stars, and will likely have lots of familar faces like Kermit, Miss Piggy and more.

Jedi Temple Challenge

Season 1 – 2020, date TBC

Think of this like Fort Boyard, but for younger audiences with lightsabers. Contestants will compete in a series of challenges to become the ultimate Jedi knight, and the show will ‘test a Padawan’s connection to the Force in three locations — a forest planet, on board a Jedi star cruiser, and inside a Jedi temple’. Plus, it will be hosted by Jar Jar Binks actor, Ahmed Best. We’re probably far too excited for this.

Loki

Season 1 – Early 2021

Following his escape into another timeline during Avengers: Endgame, the God of Mischief will get up to new tricks in his own standalone Disney+ series. Not too much has been revealed about the plot just yet, but early set photos reveal that Loki is in the hands of the Time Variance Authority, and that Sophia Di Martini and Owen Wilson shall both be starring.

Monsters at Work

Season 1 – Spring 2021

Monsters Inc. is still one of the most beloved Pixar films to this day, and this spin-off is set six months after the original film. However, we won’t be following Mike and Sully – but rather Tylor Tuskmon – a mechanic who who dreams of moving up to the Laugh Floor to work with the two former protagonists.

Hawkeye

Season 1 – Late 2021

Hawkeye is the only show surrounding one of the OG Avengers. It will follow Clint Barton as he passes on the mantel of his title (and teaches his killer archery skills) to apprentice, Kate Bishop. As it’s post Endgame, we may also get to see a brief stint of Clint as Ronin, the vigilante with dubious values following the loss of his family to the Thanos snap.

Untitled Rogue One Series

Season 1 – 2021

Star Wars fans will know that Rogue One ends in tragedy, but this prequel series will expand on one particular character – the Rebel spy Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna. It will be a spy thriller, exploring stories with espionage and missions of rebels as they fight against the might of The Empire.

Untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi series

Season 1 – Date TBC

Of all the upcoming Star Wars series, this revival of Ewan McGregor’s character is probably the most hyped, which will be set eight years after Revenge of the Sith. Originally there was a planned Obi-Wan film, but the team decided to go down the series route for more screen time to tell the story. Currently the release date is still hazy due to production delays, which means that it could be as far away as 2022.
