O2 waives data charges for many advice and support websites

UK mobile operator O2 has announced that it won’t charge its customers for mobile data when accessing 23 advice and support websites during the Covid-19 pandemic. The company added 22 additional sites to the scheme after previously announcing the NHS website was exempt from data charges.

The push is aimed at helping people reach the important public information they need without worrying about paying for mobile internet.

Mark Evans, CEO at O2, said, “Our customers are the most important thing to us, and we want to ensure that they have the support they need throughout this difficult time. That’s why, further to our announcement last week zero-rating NHS websites, we’re ensuring that additional websites providing financial, health and emotional advice and support can also be accessed by our customers without using any data allowance for the duration of the COVID-19 crisis.”
