I have 2 Bell rally helmets that have both developed the same problem. The issue is that the spiral cable has stripped and although still working , not for much longer. The replacement kit is now no longer available so I am looking at repairing the lead by cutting the damaged area. I work at HPC so will be able to drop off if you consider it fixable.
