    I was playing via bluetooth with the volume at almost maximum when I the Onkyo simply went off by itself and there was a smell of burning and the chassis on the top was very, very hot. The unit was still on standby with the little light on, so after it had cooled down I turned it on manually and the panel said, "Volume 30", but after about 5 seconds the unit switched itself off, but the standby light was still on. I disconnected all external wiring and all connections from the rear of the unit I'm case the issue was being caused by a short circuit in any of the external cabling, (i.e. speaker wires) and turned on the unit but the same fault occured. The next morning powered up the unit as before, but this time I tried resetting the unit by holding down the CBL/SAT on the main until and pressing On/Standby as per the instructions on page 24 of the Basic Manual. There was a momentary "Volume 40" on the front display and a load bang and flash and a smell of burning as smoke rose from the unit, so I immediately switched off and unplugged the unit.
