However, plugging it in via AC after 5 minutes the speaker can be turned on (white indicator turns on) but no sound plays and after around 30 seconds switches itself off again, when this happens the charging LED turns on for around 10-30 seconds then turns off again. As far as I can tell visually, there is no damage to the USB charging port or the AC charging port.
