Hi I have the above deck which I hadn't used for about 30 years ( I believe I bought it about 40 years ago. I have now reconnected it and tried playing some of the Maxell chrome dioxide udxl II c90 tapes that are also about 30 years old. These tapes are ok when played in an alternative machine but in the Sony after about 30 minutes playing in the Sony the tape appears to slow down with a result that the music becomes very distorted. After about another 2 minutes the player stops and will not restart on that tape. I have cleaned all drives and sprockets with alcohol but this has had no effect.Are you familiar with this unit and any idea what could be the cause or what may be failing?
