    I switched on the unit without first checking that the voltage switch at the side was set to 230V rather than 115V. Unfortunately it was set to 115V! After around 5 seconds I turned the unit off, set the voltage switch to 230V and tried powering up again.

    On powering up again the display didn't work but I did get sound out of the unit and the remote control was working which suggests that the pcb which houses the lcd display had not been damaged. I noticed that unit was getting rather hot and also it was making a buzzing noise. After say 90 minutes it stopped working. After investigating I discovered that the F500mv 250V internal main fuse had blown. There is no visible damage to the components, so there are no blown resistors or bulging or popped capacitors. I suspect that the thermal fuse in the toroidal power supply, part number TT103-C-1 made by Topping, has gone and that this part has probably been damaged beyond repair from the power surge.

    Repair wise then we are probably taking about a new toroidal transformer and a lcd display.
