The battery appears to be swollen. The laptop is old and I have purchased a new one but would like to move files off the old laptop. I have an external hard drive I was going to use to move files on to but with the battery situation I am not sure I should be turning on the old laptop at all. Are you able to move files off this laptop safely or replace the battery so I can safely use the laptop again to move the files myself? This is for a family member’s laptop so I do not have details of model number or a picture.
