I have an HP Notebook laptop, model HP Envy 17 j053ea (not the touch screen version). The system board is an Intel Seven Twenty 266-501 (MH87 Express chipset, dual hard drive slots 1 TB each and Nvidia Geforce 740M graphics). The LVDS board connector for the display screen (CM3300) has disintegrated due to a hinge collapse, and both the connector pins and plastic slot cover are broken (I still have the pieces). Are you able to repair the system board? If so, how much would it cost? I have already removed the base enclosure, hard drive, WLAN, memory slots, DVD drive, fan, heat sink, RTC, hinges and display screen so the board is immediately accessible.
If this is not a do-able repair, are you able to source a replacement board or advise on other solutions? I don’t really want to have to use a remote screen and obviously beyond a certain amount, the economics of repairing a laptop of this age get a bit dubious.
