    Probably requires battery replacement – battery has begun to swell/bulge when recharged. Full details as follows: This laptop is displaying slight swelling of the internal main battery. It is a rarely used laptop and the battery is still functioning (can be charged and holds charge, unit still works on battery power, etc). But on a recent occasion we left it to charge for a number of hours, and in that time, the battery had clearly expanded somewhat during the period. After disconnecting, some of the swelling has reduced back nearly – but not entirely – to normal size…. In regard to distortion of the outer body of the laptop, there is slight residual swelling left from the incident described above. Some slight bulging can be seen under the trackpad/buttons although this looks like it might be not too serious and would probably be okay once the battery is removed and changed. (Judged on visual signs only.) I therefore think we just require an estimate for a replacement battery. Probably little other repair will be necessary although it would be a good idea to test the trackpad & button function to ensure there has not been damage from the underlying expanded battery.
