My phone suffered a drop and smashed screen (I’ve since replaced the screen myself and all running fine)… however the only thing no longer working is the loudspeaker. I’m uncertain if this is due to damage from the drop or my screen repair.
Initially I replaced the loudspeaker myself, hoping for a an easy fix, but to no avail. I have since been able to check both my original and the freshly bought replacement loudspeaker in another phone and both were found to be working fine.
Then using an old loudspeaker from a long since unused phone – I soldered up a couple of wires to the terminals for ease of handling and turned on my phone – ran a continuous sound playing (if not heard!)… touching the wires from the bodged loudspeaker on the PCB mainboard terminals got nothing, though then grounding one wire elsewhere and hey presto – sound once more from my phone!
So now I suspect its a cold solder or duff terminal on the PCB mainboard… Hence I am looking for a good company who can do PCB repairs, rather than just trying to needlessly fit a new loudspeaker unit.
Back cover is off phone to save any technician the hassle of removing.
