The Fire has worked well since purchase just under 2 years ago. Last week I was playing a word game when I ran the battery down and the Kindle automatically closed down. I have been unable to charge it up again since. When I push the on/off button I get a picture of the battery with a red line at the bottom showing that the battery is empty and then it switches off. I have tried numerous charging leads.
