The right ear seems to have a loose connection. For a while there was sound if the earpiece was fiddled with, but over the course of a month or two it became increasingly hard to find a position that works, to the point that catching it is now very occasional, thoufh it still crackles in and out if you fiddle. Quite early on it became the case that it would only work if the noise cancelling is on; otherwise the ear is compmetely dead. The left ear works fine whether power is on or off.

As the DVD player sound surround system was around 20yrs old I was surprised that Electronic Partners were able to undertake a repair and give us many more years service of our system meaning no wastage of all the other perfectly good parts such as the speakers. EP also met my need in delaying the return postage until a time that I was able to be at home to receive the DVD player.
