The tubing over the cable appears to have dried out in places and then cracked. This has occured both at points where the cable meets the plastic of the earphone pieces themselves, the jack and the joint where the 2 wires from the earphone units turn into 1 wire to the jack) as well as in one or two other places along the length of the cable. One of the earphone units is also slightly damaged and I hope you can do a better job of the repair than I. The earphones still work well. The metal shielding below the cable tubing is intact as far as I can see. Please see photos.
