Google Podcasts has been updated with a clearer design and UI on the same day it is finally available for iOS. The app is now split into three tabs, Home, Explore and Activity, the latter of which makes the oft-confusing app much clearer to use.
While Apple Podcasts is the go-to podcast app for anyone with an iPhone or iPad, it’s good to see Google release its own app for iOS. Some people might prefer Google’s now it is much improved and might like that it syncs over Google services as opposed to Apple’s, depending on their other devices (it’ll work nicer with a Google Home, for example).
The company has also updated Google Podcasts for Web to help with syncing.
With the update, Google Podcasts is getting features that it really should have had already, like auto downloads when new episodes are available.
All podcast apps are not created equal. Many have horrible UI and are filled with ads, which is why Apple and Google’s free apps are so popular. We’re particularly fond of Pocket Casts, though.
