OnePlus has confirmed that its new Nord CE 2 5G will launch very soon. Here’s all we know about the budget-friendly offering from the company that promises to ‘Never Settle’.
When is the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G release date?
OnePlus has confirmed that the Nord CE 2 5G will launch on 17 February 2022. It’s not clear yet whether this means it will be instantly available on that date to markets around the world, but if the company follows the pattern set by the OnePlus Nord CE 5G, then expect to be able to buy the new model on 18 February 2022.
We expect to see availability in the UK, EU and India from that date, with other territories also potentially receiving releases. US customers are unlikely to receive the new hardware though, as OnePlus is set to withhold the device from that market, as it did with the previous model.
How much will the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G cost?
We don’t have confirmed prices just yet, but it’s hard to imagine OnePlus will move too far from the Nord CE 5G that only appeared in the middle of 2021. Here’s how the various configurations lined up:
- 6GB RAM + 128GB storage – €299/₹22,999 (not available in UK)
- 8GB RAM + 128GB storage – £299/€329/₹24,999
- 12GB RAM + 256GB storage – £369/€399/₹27,999
What features and specs will we see in the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G?
So far, OnePlus has only confirmed a few aspects of its new device. In a press release, the company stated that the Nord CE 2 5G ‘takes the best parts of the Nord 2 and puts it into an even more affordable package.’ To back this up, it outlined that the upcoming model will definitely feature 65w SUPERVOOC wired charging, a 3.5mm headphone jack, plus a microSD card slot that will support additional storage of up to 1TB.
We’ve also started to see images of the Nord CE 2 5G, with the initial moody shot you saw at the top of this article acting as a teaser. This was followed by a tweet post from OnePlus India that showed one of the new colours that the device will sport – Bahama Blue.
Do you say ca-RIB-bean, or carib-BE-an? Anyways, say hello to the Bahama Blue #OnePlusNordCE2

OnePlus also released a video to highlight the features mentioned above, giving us another glimpse at the handset.
Aside from this, we’ve seen several rumours and tweets seemingly showing leaked specs and box shots that suggest the device will include 8GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage and will come in another colour – Mirror Gray.

GSMArena reports that a MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC chipset will power the new handset, which is the same one found in the Oppo Reno 6, and this means you can expect decent performance in the budget to lower-mid-range sector. OnePlus used a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G in the original Nord CE, so it will be interesting to see how the new silicon compares.
We’ve not seen any details about the display or cameras in the new Nord CE 2 5G, so it’s possible that OnePlus may stick with the 6.43in Full HD+ AMOLED panel that was fitted to the previous model, although it should be noted that the Dimensity 900 SoC supports refresh rates up to 120Hz, which could suggest a step up from the 90Hz on offer in the original version.
To get more of a feel for what the Nord CE 2 5G may have, here’s the spec sheet for the Nord CE 5G:
- Android 11 with Oxygen OS 11
