Vestax PMC-07-Pro Vestax PMC07-Pro repair: crossfader ‘loosening’ + power supply (poss fuse?) repair… (details below)- Hi! I recently dug out my old decks and mixer after an extended stint in my loft, following a house move to somewhere with more space… Everything was working fine, generally speaking, other than discovering that the mixer’s crossfader had become much less ‘slippy’ during its extended stint in the loft. The crossfader was generally working as it should -so no actual glitches or operating issues per say- but it’s ‘action’ had become much slower / requiring much more force, like it had either got ‘clogged’ with something, or almost seized up. If I was focussed on slower, gradual mixes (like beat-matching dance music, or suchlike) it would probably work for purpose just fine. But I generally play hiphop/rap and that axis, hence, mixer-wise I’m more interested on scratching, cuts, and that sphere of ‘turntablism’ exploits, thus, crossfader-wise it is absolutely essential that it has as fast, easy, or (as they say) ‘slippy’ action as humanly possible to be able to achieve what is required stylistically. So that is my primary repair required! I’ve had mixers serviced as such in the past and I was told it was a reasonably straightforward fix, so hopefully it should be the same cae this time, fingers crossed? I can vouch for the mixer itself in this case specifically being a model notoriously known for its ‘slippy’ crossfader and generally speaking aimed at the above style of mixing / DJ skills, so hopefiuly that should support this kind of ‘servicing’ / repair job too? Secondly, as I was just packing my DJ setup gear down so I could box up the mixer ready to bring in, I heard a ‘pop’ sound via the speakers in use as I unplugged the mixer’s plug pack/power-point at the mains (via a multi-plug adaptor unit), so I plugged it all back on again to check what happened, and sure enough the mixer was not turning on when I pressed the power button – everything else (IE decks, amps etc) all worked fine and switched on at normal, bar the mixer. Having thoroughly inspected both the mixer and plug power-point there is absolutely no signs of any serious damage whatsoever on either, and having researched the likely issue, it looks like it must just be a simple blown fuse-esque issue with the plug unit/ power-point/pack, so the second repair is just that, eitehr replacing the fuse and/or sorting whatever is stopping the mixer’s plug-unit / power-pack from getting the mixer to turn on… Similary, from what I have read online this should be a relatively simple repair job, in fact, most artciles online suggest it can be done DIY at home by the user (partly as its not audio gear specific per say, but a misc electronics repair job), but I just don’t trust myself! I’m terrible with fiddly electronics stuff, so I will happily hand it over into your far more capable and professional hands! Could you please advise ASAP on: 1) The price (even an approx/estimate/initial ballpark) price for the X2 different repair jobs, 2) How long should it take to complete both these repair jobs from drop-off to collection, 3) The location / address I should deliver the mixer to, and any relevant info regarding that, or anything else outstanding that I’vce not refernced here at regarding this job that6 I should be aware of ahead of delivering the item to you for repair… Hope this all makes sense, but let me know any outsanding questions/queries/thoughts at all your side (my number- 07780960756- in case you want to contact me via phone, if it’s easier to chat anything specific RE the repair job at all to clarify anything and be certain we’re on the same page etc)… It would be great to resolve this ASAP, as I’ve got various DJ gigs on the horizon that I need to practice/prep for, so it would be great if this could be expedited as much as is possible for you guys- let me know the score RE everything above / or anything you want to raise addtionally etc… Really look forward to getting this sorted ASAP, and much appreciate all your time, skills and effort! The requested repair was also carried out efficiently, and I am very pleased with the result. I have dropped one star in my review because the repair included replacing a red/green LED, and the red LED is so bright that the surrounding fabric is also illuminated, whereas the green LED is quite dim and can only be seen from certain angles. I guess that EP found it difficult to procure the original LED component which is undoubtedly a B&W special.
