Disney Plus launches in the UK today

After a four month wait since the global release, Disney Plus has finally launched here in the UK. Priced at £5.99 per month – or £59.99 per year – this service is set to shake up the future of the streaming wars with content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic.

You can sign up for the service on the Disney Plus website, which will grant you access to a library of over 500 films, 350 TV shows and 26 original exclusives on the platform. Among this list is Avengers: Endgame, 30 seasons of The Simpsons and the first live-action Star Wars show, The Mandalorian.

Further down the line, fans of the MCU will be treated to numerous original Marvel shows, including The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and WandaVision – with both kicking off later this year. This platform will also be the home of future Star Wars shows, including the untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi show.

You can expect to see other smash hits on there such as The Lion King (2019) and Toy Story 4. These will sit alongside some beloved classics from the world of film, including Home Alone, Mrs. Doubtfire, Sister Act and Finding Nemo. Disney Channel nuts are also in luck, as they’ll be able to stream some of the classics like Lizzie McGuire, Hannah Montana and That’s So Raven.

In terms of the new shows on the block, there’s a wacky documentary called The World According To Jeff Goldblum, the live-action remake of Lady and the Tramp, and a spin off show of High School Musical – confusingly titled High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.

You can use Disney Plus on nearly all major mobile and TV devices – including games consoles, smart TVs and media players. All content is ad-free, and you’ll be able to set up seven different profiles, watch on four devices at one time and view content in 4K without any extra cost.

If you’re still considering whether or not Disney+ is for you, check out the best discounts available for the service, including the O2 deal for new and upgrading customers which gives the service free for six months with phone contracts.
